Getting to island houseboats

Island Houseboats vessels are moored at the Lake Cowichan Marina.

1.  Follow Highway 1 south from Nanaimo to Duncan or follow Highway 1 north from Victoria to Duncan.

You now find yourself on a long stretch of road, 100 clicks allowed but watch out for logging trucks and deer!  From this point it is 26 km or 18 miles to the Town of Lake Cowichan.

2.  Turn west on Highway 18 to the town of Lake Cowichan.

Cross the bridge and drive through the village until you see a log cabin Tourist Information Centre on your right. This is Point Ideal Road.

3.  Travel through the town of Lake Cowichan to the Tourist Information Center (log building) and turn right on Point Ideal Road.

Proceed until you see a large parking lot and the marina on your right. Your “Vacation of a Lifetime” is about to begin!

4.  Continue on to the Cowichan Lake Marina at the end of the road. Marina parking is $5.per day. Please ensure vehicle is locked.
